The Colt Python is unquestionably the most popular of the seven snake revolvers. It was a big-framed double-action revolver with a .357 Magnum chambering, initially introduced in 1955. It is generally considered one of the best double-action revolvers ever produced. A 2.5-inch, 3.0-inch, 4.0-inch, 6.0-inch, and 8.0-inch barrel, a variety of finishes, sights, grips, engraving, commemorative editions, etc., were available on the Python during its first production period from 1955 to 2005. The original Colt Python was a gorgeously built revolver, from its precise trigger to the smoothness of its cycle. Many gun owners believe that no other revolver will ever match the quality, feel, and accuracy of the original Python. The reintroduction of a redesigned Python was announced in 2020, and this was warmly embraced. The modernized Python is a well-built weapon with reliable performance and a decent trigger. It includes contemporary stainless steel alloys and a redesigned rear sight, continuing the Snake Gun's tradition. Chambered in .357 Magnum, it also accepts .38 Special rounds.
