These Steyr 1912 Rifles are stamped 7mm on the barrel, but they are actually .30-06. The Steyr Chilean 1912 Short Rifle was originally chambered in 7mm Mauser. In the 1950s Chile was given M1 Garands and .30-06 ammunition as foreign aid. It's thought that these rifles were re-barreled to .30-06 in hopes of using the same ammunition as the M1 rifles.
