The M&P® FPC™ is compatible with M&P® full-size and compact pistol double-stack magazines, and includes a carrying bag with additional storage and Velcro® straps. Is S&W paying Kel-Tec to use their design? It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve slapped their name on someone else’s design (see SW99)
Ket tec wasn't the 1st. SW's is a better design and a favorable fold for the optic of your choice
I am looking at it to determine what makes it a better design. I have a Keltec, and cheap as it is it always works, and it takes glock mags. I think it might be because it folds sideways. It is about 200.00 more and it does come with more mags but I am just wondering is that about it?
I’m not arguing that Kel-tec’s design is better. Rarely is that ever the case with any firearm they’ve ever designed/made. But they were the first to bring it to the table. Anyone can see that it’s a total ripoff of the sub2k. But I do think that Smith and Wesson, much like their arch counterpart, Ruger, is actively trying to put every single firearms manufacturer out of business by offering either a higher quality option, or a less expensive option, whichever fills the void for demand at the time.
No, it's not a 'total rip off', it's not even close- otherwise there would be a patent violation. If anyone had a 'rifle in two pieces', Ruger and others have had that for years. Having had a sub2k, and a ruger pcc, I'm looking forward to this one once the price settles. Actually I might not get it since unlike the ruger and kel, it doesn't do glock mags.
As far as competition- that's the good thing.
Convenient that the patent ran out in 2021. Sub2k was released in 2001. S&W most definitely just made a sideways folding Sub2k.
Do you think S&W's different sideways folding design would have been a patent infringement if they had released it prior to Sub2k's patent expiring in 2021?
So they got to use the life of their patent to hold others off, and now they are out doing it better. How is any of this a bad thing?
It's a great thing, Keltec is offering a $100MIR for the Sub2k right now. They're about $320 after rebate.
