In 2004, Browning presented its Cynergy series of shotguns to fans, bringing a brand-new outlook to a product line that has a reputation for being among the best over-under models ever made—both today and throughout history. When compared to rival shotguns, these weapons' reverse striker ignition system enables a trigger with a crisper feel and less overtravel. Some people regarded the Browning Cynergy as the most radical break-action shotgun of the previous 100 years. It was even asserted that its design was more radical than John Moses Browning's B-25, which was developed more than 80 years ago and is still in excellent condition. The B-25 set the standard for the contemporary over-and-under. The action block is one of the shortest in the industry and is machined from solid steel forging. The first noticeable distinction is that the jointing appears to be reversed, with the concave curve in the block itself and the convex curve on the fore-end iron. The fore-end iron has stub pins built into it, but the shotgun does not really hinge on them. When the shotgun is put together, they serve as a handy rearward latch for the fore-end iron. The barrels themselves are hinged by quarter-circle cutouts in the action walls that interact with similarly shaped projections in the barrel monobloc. In comparison to any type of pin, this characteristic offers enormous load-bearing regions, resulting in exceptionally strong jointing with little chance of ever coming loose. The top lever has a low profile and is quite slim. Cocking rods are located throughout the action floor and are pushed back when the gun is opened by cams in the fore-end iron. This method is known as "Monolock" by Browning.
