I like these stainless G series guns as well. I think what you're witnessing is high quality stock and excellent CNC machining with this BUL, and the cast frame and scattered MIM parts are no detriment. Springfield is a master at 1911's and has some excellent models, but this may be an example of how a poor quality forged product can be surpassed by a well-fit cast one. The overall fit, play, and actuation on the BUL is very good. Important to note is the all black front sight, single safety, no frame undercut, and no rail. Thankfully they removed the enormous banner from the slide a few years ago.
Couldn't agree more, and just to clarify, I've spoken to a lot of people who have Springfield 1911s are are super happy with them. I think I there may have been a QC issue on mine or PO did something to it. I bought it used at a gunshow, so I can't say that it came from the factory like that. That's good to know about the casting; I had no idea. But yeah, fit and finish is superb and the old DESERT EAGLE on the slide was tacky. If I had to pick something out, I was not a fan of the stock G10 grips for concealed (they're very, very grippy but also very rough on the skin for IWB), but that's a 2 minute swap (satin + cobolo + black accents is just beautiful). I've had mine for a few years now and the satin finish makes the wear marks look really cool.
I've owned 2 1911s. One was a Springfield that after multiple trips to the gunsmith, could not get it to stop F2E and F2F. I swore off 1911's till I saw one of these for a good price at a gun show. I've put at least 1k+ rounds through it without so much as a hiccup (knock on wood) and it's my EDC now. It restored my faith in 1911s. Unless I'm very mistaken, It's actually manufactured by or in conjunction with Bul. If you're looking for a 1911, it's really hard to beat this one sub $1k+.
