Updated 22 months ago

Hey, everybody, welcome back to gun.deals. Today on the table we have an FN AR-15. Let’s get this review started.

Alright, folks, as I said, this is an FN AR-15. Let’s go over the features and so on.

Let’s start at the back here we do have a standard M4 buttstock, it’s have the FN logo right here. You do have a sling attachment here and here, and obviously it’s an adjustable buttstock.

We have a mil-spec buffer tube right here, down to your castle nut which has been staked in two places and the staking looks really, really nice.

Moving along, obviously this Eotech does not come with this, just, just so, you know, but it does come with these backup sights, so you can flip these sights up like so, and they’re lock in place and there’s a little detent button that you just push in to push them back down. It’s nice that they come with these because backup sights will cost you anywhere from about 50 to 100 bucks, maybe a little bit more, depending on the brand and what you get, so it’s really nice that they come with this rifle and you don’t have to buy them separately, so happy with that.

On the upper and lower receiver is 7075 T6 aluminum, so it’s excellent quality materials, and then you have a 91913 pic-rail the whole way along here.
And then moving down for the lower, it’s not a fancy lower by any means, and what I mean by that it’s not like ambi or anything like that, it’s just a standard AR-15 lore. It does have your mag release here, and then on the other side you have just your standard safety and bolt catch and release and your brass deflector, ford assist and so on, very typical of your standard AR-15.

Moving down you have, again, a very basic grip, cheap grip, that comes with guns, again, if they’re doing the same thing as the buttstock, maybe just put the cheaper ones on, keeping the price down, to let us switch out, I’m ok with that, but, again, it’s something you absolutely don’t have to do, but I just like to upgrade those parts.

It does have a mil-spec trigger in here, it comes in the pull weights about 6 pounds, on average came out about 6 pounds for me, so not too bad.
It does come with a 30-round magazine, if your state allows it, and this is FN branded on the bottom here and it’s obviously a metal mag.

One of the things, moving up, and one of the things I would do is the wobble, wiggle test, however you like to call it, just seeing if there’s any play between the upper and lower and there’s a little bit of play, not just a little bit of play between the upper and lower.

Moving up we do have a Midwest Industries rail and it is obviously marked here with their logo. I do like the rail a lot, I think it’s very aesthetically pleasing, has a lot of benefits where it’s got all these cutouts at the top, you can probably see these holes, trying to lighten this rail up, again, it’s 1913 pic-rail on the top, and then you have your M-LOK slots the whole way so you can attach pretty much anything you like, there’s plenty of space to add what, you know, whatever you need.

It does have two QD sling mounts right here and here and it has three at the top, one here one here and one here, so plenty of spaces to attach.

Below this hand guard we have a mid-length gas system, so you might be aware there’s a carbine mid-length and a rifle length system, mid-length is really kind of sweet spot for guns this size, this length, it really helps smooth out the action on the gun, so happy there’s a mid-length.

The barrel is a 16-inch barrel, it is chrome-lined, it’s a 1-7 twist and we have an A2 Birdcage on the front right here. FN typically makes all the barrels in-house, their barrels are very, very good, so no complaints from me whatsoever.

Overall, the quality construction is, it’s a nice AR-15, it does have these anti-rotation tabs right here, which I forgot to mention, and on the other side, so if the hanger comes loose it shouldn’t twist out of place, so it’s got some anti-locking tab, anti-rotation tabs right there.

The overall quality and construction is really nice, FN makes some excellent firearms as you’re probably aware, like FN SCAR, the FN 509, the pistol lines, I mean there’s a whole bunch of guns they make and they’re a good quality company for sure.

Overall thoughts on shooting, it was nice, it was very flat shooting, so I’ve shot about 300 rounds for this, it’s kind of my typical, kind of initial review,

I’m getting about 300 rounds just because ammo is still so expensive and unfortunately budget dictates that for me, but in those 300 rounds zero problems, you’re shooting Wolf Gold 55 grain, and, yeah, I had no problems at all, as I said, actually was definitely there, very flat shooting, nice to shot in general, so happy days.
