The Smith & Wesson 1911 is a variation of the M1911, a long-standing American classic. It has the M1911’s dimensions and functions, while a variety of modern features has been added, so now is available in 10 models and two calibers, 9mm and .45 ACP. Considering design updates, the 1911 has serrations added at the front of the slide, a beavertail grip safety, an outer extractor, and a lighter hammer and trigger. Internal safeties are updated too, for preventing accidental firing when the pistol is dropped. The original Model 1911 was designed in 1911, while in 2003 the Smith & Wesson decided to modernize it. In 2011, they discontinued all the previous versions and restored the whole line with a dozen of 1911 variations. The SW 1911 pistols are available in E-Series, the Performance Center (PC), and Pro Series, all with several variants. They vary from compact to full size. The S&W 1911 models come with bead-blasted stainless-steel slides and frames, as well as with black finished carbon steel slides and frames, or aluminum frames alloyed with scandium with black or natural finishes. The E-series features beautiful wooden grips with tough stainless-steel frames. The PC 1911 has a black front post sight and fixed rear sights, while the E-Series has white dot sights. The 1911 is well-known for its excellent accuracy and powerful bullets with amazing stopping power, so beware that the recoil is noticeable.
