This is another AR-15-style .22 LR rimfire rifle by S&W that comes in several different sub-model packages, with different optics, compliant features, or colors. The standard M&P 15-22 model has flip-up Magpul MBUS front and back sights, with enough space between them for mounting optics. It also has the Magpul M-Lok system for attaching accessories to the handguard. Most parts like grips, lights, stocks, etc. that fit on standard AR-15s will also fit on the 15-22. The M&P 15-22 has an AR-style adjustable buttstock, and an A2-style pistol grip. Almost the entire rifle, including the grip, is made of polymer, which means it is ultra-light. The barrel, bolt group, and trigger mechanism are made of metal. The gun breaks in two for easy cleaning. The barrel on the standard model is 15.5 inches long and 1/2x28-UNEF threaded for a suppressor. The 10-inch fore-end has a radiused octagonal profile. The magazine is externally slotted with ambidextrous, pull-down followers to aid reloads. It’s positioned quite high, near the chamber and short feed ramp. The rifle is highly accurate and reliable, with great ergonomics, design, and overall performance.
