The Italian assault rifle known as the Beretta ARX160 is made by Beretta. The ARX160 is a commercial weapon system that was developed for the Italian Armed Forces. It comes with a companion single-shot 40x46mm NATO low-velocity grenade launcher called the GLX160 that can be mounted underneath the rifle or used as a stand-alone weapon with an ad hoc stock system. Late in 2015, Beretta introduced the 7.6251mm NATO-chambered Beretta ARX200. The project began as an evolution of the Beretta AR 70/90 and SC 70/90, and it was first described as a simple upgrade of the construction materials and addition of minor improvements to the Beretta AR 70/90. The final version of the ARX-160, which is now being produced and has replaced all three variants of its predecessor, the AR 70/90, came about as a result of later developments. The 7.6239mm version of the ARX160 was introduced by Beretta in 2012. The same year, Beretta also unveiled the ARX160 A2, which is now in service by the Italian Army and Special Forces. An improved version of the ARX160 was unveiled by Beretta in 2013 as the ARX160 A3. A new handguard with enhanced heat ventilation and an extended Picatinny rail on the bottom, as well as an upgraded pistol grip design, are among the upgrades. The Beretta ARX160 differs in a number of ways from the earlier AR70/90 model. It has a short-stroke piston system and is made out of an upper and lower receiver that are both mostly made of polymer. It can fire either the 7.62mm or 5.56mm NATO rounds. For the NATO 5.5645mm configuration, feeding is done using STANAG magazines, whereas for the 7.6239mm configuration, feeding is done using AK-47 or AKM magazines. There were also plans for other calibers, such as the 6.8mm Remington SPC and 5.4539mm. It has ambidextrous safeties, right-side, left-side, and "AK" style magazine releases, a bolt release, charging handle, and the option to change which side spent casings are ejected. It also has a quick-change barrel that can be taken off and put back on in a matter of seconds without the use of any tools, Picatinny rails, and a foldable telescopic stock.
