The Model 1911 and the 380 ACP cartridge, two of John M. Browning's most enduring inventions, are combined into the contemporary, lightweight pistol known as the Browning 1911-380. The Browning 1911-380 series, which is scaled down to be 85% of a conventional Government-Profile 1911, is constructed on the same foundation as the company's popular 1911-22. Browning was able to maintain the inventor's original dimensions while significantly reducing weight by employing a composite and aluminum frame. A heat-treated stainless-steel barrel and satin-finished slide are added to this customized frame to create a handgun that is both tough and stylish. The 1911-380 is a bit larger than the majority of contemporary "pocket handguns" that fire the classy 380 ACP cartridge, in order to better control recoil and enable faster and more precise follow-up shots. The bullet's velocity increases as the barrel lengthens, giving it greater punch and better accuracy farther away. The grip is small in size but long and wide enough to provide the shooter's hand with complete experience for more comfortable shooting. The difference between the full version and the compact one is in barrel length (compact version 3 5/8”), overall length (compact version 6 7/8”), and overall weight (compact version 16 oz).
