From 1965 through 1974, the original Browning T-Bolt was manufactured. It had a 24-inch barrel, a peep rear sight, and a ramped front sight. It was chambered for the .22 Long Rifle, and today is available in more calibers. Brought back in 2006–2007, it continues to be a low-profile competitor in the market and is well-liked and regarded by those who are familiar with it. The rifle fires remarkably accurately for a caliber that isn't often known for its accuracy. It features a five-shot magazine, weighs six pounds, and comes in left-hand variants too. The locking lug, which is perpendicular to the bolt body and forms a "T" shape, is what gives the T-Bolt its name. Pulling on the bolt handle causes the locking lug in the receiver to move sideways since it is attached to the bottom of the T. The locking lug must clear the receiver wall before the bolt assembly can advance backward. Because the shooter only needs to pull the T-Bolt backward rather than lift it up and then bring it back, using it is substantially faster than using a conventional bolt. The cock-on-close movement of the T-Bolt is one of its most appealing characteristics. The double-helix magazine is mostly made of a clear polymer, allowing the shooter can see how many bullets are left in it. It is roughly a ¼ thinner and 1/8 taller than other standard 10-round rotary magazines, comfortably fitting in the pocket. Most variants have a steel barrel that is 22 inches long, but there’s also the Sporter variant with a 16 ¼ -inch long barrel. The T-Bolt is constructed in a way that reflects the Browning brand, with the vintage hardwood stock exquisitely accented by blued metalwork for a spectacular effect. Its categorization as a Target/Varmint model doesn't hurt it either, giving the expectation of performing above average.
