My Government length version of this model is on the way. Going to use it as a basis for a custom build.

I'm not sure I get the point of this design. For a carry gun, it's long where it should be short, and short where length doesn't matter as much.

The general reasoning for the standard grip would be for ease of Draw. The 3" barrel conceals well. I prefer this over shorter gripped pistols that my pinky hangs off of the bottom of the gun.

I have 2 Para products and am pleased with both of them. I feel like they offer a lot for the money. The prices are good, features are good, its made in the USA and it has a lifetime warranty....what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, and most para products have some sort of rebate associated with them, either money or ammo. I personally chose the elite officer over this one and its really nice to carry. If this is anything like the elite officer, you will be pleased with it.

I agree, if you're set on Para as an EDC then go with the Elite Officer. Higher chance of issues with a 3" (.45 ACP) barrel.

I have the government ss elite model and love it. Great finish, fiber optic front site, great site picture, light trigger pull, super accurate and not a single hiccup.I am super impressed with mine. Will prob get another in black.

Anyone know anything about this gun or about Para in general? I'm in the market for 1911 style pistol for carrying and this fits the bill, but I don't know anything about Para or this gun and I'm having trouble finding info in the internets.

I am in the same boat, nothing much written o this gun, anyone own one. I have had larger Para' before, but not this, also is the trigger plastic?

Para used to be a Canadian company. They moved to North Carolina and are an American made gun. They are an extremely high quality gun crafter without the Kimber or Colt price tag. They carry a lifetime warranty and Para USA backs their product. Go to Para-USA.com if you want to know more about them. I have this exact gun on order but have yet to receive it.

That's strange, I figured with a post like that, your buddies at the factory could bump you up on the list :)

While Para has been around for some time (and changed hands from what I understand, took down their rifles division) they've battled their own QC issues for some years. Not that Colt didn't put out a dud more often than fanboys admit, but I'd take a Taurus 1911 over most Para. They became famous for their hi-cap 1911, which were a new thing when Para started.

I have a Taurus or two, but I would never compare it to my Para's. I have a 22 LR Taurus pistol that I wouldn't trade for anything. My FFL who owns Black Creek Tactical in Gray, Ga(Ex Marine Sniper) sold me on Para Ordinance 1911's. He loves the double stack. I guess it's great that there are so many different brands out there so everyone can have a favorite. I will stick with the Para though.
