This cut gives you more room to shoulder your rifle by making a steeper incline on the side. We removed this design in recent history to streamline production and cut lead times on plate production, since the need for right-handed and left-handed designs complicated their creation, storage, and shipping immensely. But these plates are not any worse for it, and we are proud to bring them back while there’s still stock. AR500 Armor’s Level III+ body armor exceeds the NIJ 0101.06 Level III standard by stopping 5.56x45mm M193 @ 3,100 FPS in addition to all Level III threats. Being multi-hit capable, it can take several hits from all rounds it is rated to stop. This sits in contrast to ceramic plates, large areas of which will shatter upon being hit. These plates were made before we navigated to our ambi-cut A1 plate line, and are intended to especially benefit right-handed shooters with more space to shoulder a rifle in a right-handed position. The 11"x14" size comes with extra height and width for larger users or those desiring more coverage. We recommend trying the larger size to see what works best for you as you evaluate trade-offs. Typically, we recommend 11"x14" front and back plates for those 6'4" and above, but for most people, these will work well in an emergency plate carrier, for back-side plate carrier usage, stowed in a backpack, or housed in the backside of a car seat pocket for vehicle protection.
