Good vendor. I haven't had a chance to get out and shoot this barrel, but RTB shipped quickly and for a good price. Would (will) buy from again.
I have been on the lookout for a .300 blackout barrel that is about this price but in a 10.5 in barrel.. I would even take a 10. I just think the 8 is pushing it to get all the powder burnt and get decent velocity on the supersonic stuff.
Any experts on the .300 please chime in if you think this is a better barrel length for my SBR.
I think you lose/gain roughly 50 fps per each inch of barrel for the Blackout. I just looked at a chart and 110 grain bullets shot at 2051 FPS in an 8 inch barrel and 2173 out of a 10 inch barrel. So, you're looking at a 122 fps difference between barrels. I bought a PTAC 10.5" barrel on a whim a while back for $80.00. I like it, but the funny thing is, I would have preferred an 8 inch barrel since I mostly want to shoot subsonics through my suppressor. So, the extra length is not really needed for that.
I'm tempted to build an upper using this barrel. But, I am a little reluctant since I read some muzzle threads weren't in alignment on some barrels. Tragdor below said his was fine though, so that is good news.
For what it is worth, I sent CMMG an email asking if baffle strikes were covered if the threads were found to not be concentric and was told they will support it.
FYI -This is a 1/7 twist so all is burnt off. 300 blkt ammo is designed for 8" -10.5". I have this barrel set up free float with the smith vortex .30 flash eliminator and full auto weight bcg... incredibly accurate, no muzzle flip, no flash, simply perfection...best barrel for the price.
I can reach out to 300 yards with my 8" no problem.
My experience from Right to Bear was also perfect! I bought this barrel and have enjoyed shooting my setup. For you suppressed guys, this barrel was checked and threads were concentric to bore. No problems there.
I bought this barrel from them a couple months ago. Shipped quick, and the barrel so far has been great. Accuracy was above my expectations.
When you order it from CMMG, you can specify if you are looking to run a can...they will make sure your barrel is concentric...this barrel is the sleeper on the market...
