Ok, so I went back to check the Amazon reviews that I read, after a closer look, I noticed the SKU# J15861 is different from the one listed on the LAPG website. But the appearance and original MSRP for the shoe is the same. The listing has 1289 reviews. I don't know if these are 100% the same shoes, but base off the eye test they look the same to me. Are the LAPG Merrell Moab 2 Tactical shoes the same shoes that Amazon is selling? If you're considering buying a pair, you'll have to decide for yourself...

Footwear is not immune to outsourcing. I have had great luck with Mcrae USA made boots. Then i tried their "industrial" product line. Made in china junk. Umwearable even for a day. It was Altama before that. Fantastic boots! Then made in china junk. Both brands have USAmade footwear of high quality and junk. I like Mcrae better now. Brand names are a commodity and they are often exploited for quick profit nowadays. Its hard to figure out but the quality is often the mirror opposite. If you see what was a great pair of boots for $40 chances are its been outsourced and is junk. It seems the only thing that saves boots is if it has a military cage number. They may not be the best design but at least they hold up and the sizes are uniform. Id like to try some ogf these newer designs but since brand is not a reliable indicator I dont. The same model by the same brand is all of sudden made by a different factory in a different country. Someone buys the right to use the brand and knocks of junk. You dont know until the product turns to caca. Same as just about everthing nowadays. If you see the price go to half it could be a great deal or somone cashing in on what WAS a great products label. The reviews you read can be for a totally diferent product made in a totally different factory. Someone can be trying to preserve the brands reputation or just exploiting it. Those five star reviews can be cashed if you buy the brand and make knockoffs for two dollars. Hell they are bootlegging counterfeit sparkplugs nowadays. Anything of high quality can and will be knocked off. If the knockoffs are any good they knock off the knock offs. Or just put some high quality merchandise out there to get a consumer base then flood with knockoffs. knockoffs can be made so cheap that ten years of manufacturing profits can be made in six months They do it and on to the next mark. They can put the quality anywhere they want and they play consumer brand loyalty as business strategies. Put POGO brand out there with high quality dump junk then start GOPO brand to see if they can milk somthing off the memory of the old brand loyalty. Faux reviews have got to be 90%. "great product fast service" with no details. Copy paste. People associate their self worth with their brand choices (cultivated) so they are hesitant to call it even after shenanigans are evident.

That is correct. Brands change manufacturing facilities frequently, especially overseas, and the quality can change rapidly as a result. We see it in the US and we are much more stable than the rest. Add in the dishonest, screened and filtered reviews and the buyer is in a Craps game. Good advice to take each review with a grain of salt, and each comment as only a "rumor."

I was going to buy these, but the reviews are beyond terrible. The stitching comes a part after a week of light use. After only a few months, the soles will detach and holes will develop in the toe area because of subpar stitching.

LAPG shows 33 reviews. Only "Mike E." complained about the stitching you mentioned. No one else. Twenty five 5-star reviews. I've ridden two pairs of Merrell MOAB 2 boots to hell and back...still going strong.
