Does anybody know if the new Magpul Zhukov stock and handguard will work with this rifle? Greatly appreciate any information.
Thanks,

Shadow

To get the stock to work will take heavy modification and a slant back adapter. Not sure about the hand guard, but I assume no. You can put a stock AK hand guard on a VEPR, but you need an adapter for the hand guard retainer. Also, the VEPR barrel is much thicker. On my conversion to an AK hand guard, I had to remove a lot of material from inside the hand guard and around the part that goes into the receiver. SGM makes a hand guard for the VEPRs that is pretty decent with no modifications.

No reason to not buy it, except it won't take AK mags without some minor mods. Easy fix, but need to modify. I have the 7.62x54R vepr with 16" barrel, love it. sure the x39 is great too.......there heavy duty AK's, you can't go wrong at this price........

What needs to be done to allow it to accept AK mags?

(1) Read up on 922r (and its potential impact on your project)

(2) Buy a bullet guide for your specific type of trunnion.

(3) Drill and tap the the trunnion.

(4) Install the bullet guide.

(5) Either replace the magazine release with a new one made for regular AK mags, or take a grinder to the existing one to shorten it a bit (do it in tiny steps!!).

(6) Go shooting, veprs are great.

This is the lowest price I have seen for this rifle. Can someone tell me why I should not buy it?

They were down to $500 once, and sold quick. That was before import was banned. You should absolutely buy this now.
