Unclear, but I believe this one's advantages (?) to the newer 'Lite' version are that 1. It has the ability to store loads and 2. (some) available adjustment in its dispensing speed via re-programming by the User. (Whether or not these are advantages to you would be your decision to make)

I believe this model has, at least in the past, perhaps had some 'growing pains' with it's dispensing,(overcharges) resulting in the 'McDonald Straw' mod (see below) and an aftermarket insert to alter and/or improve it's dispensing.

.
As this unit has been available for quite a few years, I have I no idea if the current production has any advantages over the older models.

FWIW, I have several different brands of reloading equipment and RCBS has always served me well. Certainly nothing 'wrong' with RCBS, and I would recommend them to a friend.

Is this thing worth the money? I'd like to hear opinions from anyone who's actually used it.
"Average dispensing time for a 60 grain charge is less than 30 seconds". That's a long time for 1 charge... it takes me 2 seconds to charge a .30-06 round (54 grains I believe?) using my Lee auto-drum powder dispenser.... Are they talking about every charge or just the initial setup??

I have the newer lite version. Compared to a volumetric dispenser, these weight dispensers take tens of seconds longer. But the volumetric dispensers are poor at consistency with stick powder used in rifle loads. I measured crazy velocity variations in my chronograph before I switched. I had to modify my workflow to be doing something productive while waiting for a charge. I now only use the volume charger for pistol Ioads.

It depends on what you are doing.

This is the best automatic dispenser/scale out there, I have one green one and two red (hornady) ones. This one is faster, more accurate by ~.1-.2 grains per throw, and requires a lot less screwing around at setup. There's also less overcharges that require dumping the pan and starting over.

If you're single stage:
Match rounds or rounds that need to be within .2 grains on powder: Go ahead and grab it. Its significantly faster than a hand trickle

Plinking - Not worth the time it will take

If you're a progressive loader:
Match rounds or rounds that need to be within .2 grains on powder - Go ahead and grab it, but it will likely be a little too slow. You may need to buy a 2nd. An awesome alternative is a bench rest/case activated powder measure, many can get you to .2 grains if your do your part

Plinking - No. Case activated powder measure costs far less, and you will never wait on powder.

In short, for over 90% of loads i load - a powder measure is usually a better call. I'm more of a Hornady guy and they make a stand (if you don't have a progressive press), a benchrest, and a normal powder measure, and a 'case activation' mechanism if you are progressive. You can also attach a PTX (powder through expander) on a progressive press and not have to worry about expanding the case neck. These are all very very fast (1-2 seconds max to throw a 60gr charge). They are also usually very accurate, like .1-.4gr accurate if you're careful setting it up - and don't drift that much (no need to recheck every single load)

A final couple warnings:
- Your electronics in the room (lighting, etc) can interfere with the scale - like all electric scales
- If you place this on your bench and you're bench isn't rock solid you will cause it to overthrow, especially if you're sizing cases. I keep mine on a wall mounted shelf that's about 1 inch off the bench and folds back to the wall. It's not mounted on the same wall as the press (because it would overthrow when sizing)
