It is AMAZING that the boycott of CTD is this effective for 4 or 5 days so far. If this ammo had been posted at practically any other dealer it would be gone in hours (if not minutes). It's stunning that even the new gun owners who may not have heard about CTD practices haven't bought this stuff unknowingly.

I can only assume that......
1) The gun folks who are aware of CTD's douche-baggery are holding to their principles.
and
2) New buyers are apparently doing a cursory check of CTD and finding all the venom and boycott info about them.

Pretty cool.

You know what really sucks about CTD? Like most retailers, you subscribe to their email list for promos and sales. When the panic buying started, CTD kept sending emails of all the stuff they had on "sale" for prices so high, you had to wonder if they were pricing the items in Pesos! Other companies either stopped sending flyers for stuff they knew wasn't priced well or stopped all together, but not CTD! Kept sending emails & flyers of high priced ammo and mags. It made you feel like they thought you were stupid.

CTD wasn't the only business to raise prices. I think just about everyone had to raise prices some. But, CTD did it OBSCENELY! I'm with those who won't do business with CTD again.

When will this end? CTD Blows, and some people, while foolish, still are entitled to buy from whomever they want. Will it bite them in the ass, probably. Will those who make a stand against asshoel-ism feel better? Definitely !

Anyone who says they are "just looking for the best deal" are either lying, trying start an argument, or work for CTD.....ignore them. Take the higher road....just like 99% of us have against Un- American retailers like CTD....They are now the "Little guys" thanks to honorable people....lets keep it that way !

For those of us that are actually interested in ammo, yes this is a pretty decent price.

So now that we're clear that some people wont be buying anything from CTD, can we please shut up about it so those of us that want to can do so with comments on the actual products/prices, instead of your tirade of hate towards a hand full of companies you don't like.

Shabazz, what you don't seem to understand is a thing called having principles... Go ahead and give a company like CTD your money and quit bitching about the rest of us who have principles.

Sorry, I thought this was a place to find good deals on firearm related stuff. The only principle I really care about here is saving money. I wonder how many people below have no problem buying ammo from Walmart...

So you would rather save 1-2 dollars a box to sell your soul rathen than give your money to companies who never raised prices during the panic? You must either be very very poor or a stingy uptight douche bag.

All the arguing over semantics...let's not call it price gouging...let's just call it dicking over their customers and turning their back on the pro 2A movement at the first sign of hysteria. They are free in our capitalist economy to sell a $12 PMAG for $100, just like I'm free to never forget that they would do that and take my money elsewhere. Let's not forget that they puckered up to the gun control folks and pulled gun sales. A line has been drawn in the proverbial sand here....they chose to be on the wrong side of that line. We have no room for traitorous profiteering scum. Keep up the boycott brothers, the fact that they're selling Lake City (the good stuff) for $0.50 a round shows that it's working and they're starting to feel the pinch of our collective absence. Good riddance.
In the internet age, there are a litany of other vendors that didn't betray us, but stood with us to the best of their ability. Reward them with the business that we used to give to Cheaper than Diamonds.

What a bunch of cry babies. You might want to look up the definition of price gouging vs. free market capitalism.

Bullshit. Canceling unshipped orders to jack up prices makes them a price gouger to be shunned into the pits of hell. Wanting to debate the dictionary/economic definitions is pedantic and irrelevant. CTD's business practices are unforgivable - fuck CTD forever! They will never get another dime from me or many other gun owners.

Good, more for me. I dont really give a shit where my stuff comes from. If the price is right, the price is right.

If this were $.25/rd everybody would change their tune.

Capitalism - Sellers within a market compete with one another to provide a lower price point for goods and services which ultimately benefit consumers.

Price Gouging - Seller price does not reflect the actual cost of goods or services plus reasonable or historic profit margin, the change in price only reflects a rapid shift of the supply curve. Also known as profiteering.

Umm, no. In a capitalist economy, investors are free to buy, sell, produce, and distribute goods and services with at most limited government control, at prices determined primarily by a competition for PROFIT in a free market. Nobody is in business to take the least amount of your money possible.

And last time I checked, price gouging, which is a crime punishable by law, only applies to essential good and services (i.e Food)

"by a competition for PROFIT in a free market"

Competition means just that, offering the lowest price to attract consumers. You're own definition clearly states this. Don't just copy Wikipedia, take an econ 101 class before you spout off your nonsense.

You're obviously not a salesman. And I can only assume you're the one that needs the economics lesson, as you would understand that as demand goes up, and supply goes down, goods then go to the highest bidder. Especially when the media creates a mass hysteria.

And why shouldn't I quote Wikipedia if it has it right? At least my definition has a source.

Go argue with Jeffrey Miron, PhD at Harvard University, on who the benefactors of capitalism are:

Wikipedia is not a valid source, ask any college professor. Competition between sellers is based on price or product differentiation or a combination of both. gun.deals is a perfect example of capitalism, sellers offering goods at the lowest price point with varying levels of product differentiation.

Price gouging, or profiteering, is not dependent on the process being illegal. A supply shock and elastic demand is the antithesis of free market capitalism.

Businesses in general do not like capitalism because they have to compete with one another. They rather have a monopoly, duopoly or oligopoly so they can control price or quantity supplied. This is basic microeconomics. I suggest you read up a little bit more on the topic before you post next time.

In any case, who exactly forced people to pay stupid prices?

"They rather have a monopoly, duopoly or oligopoly so they can control price or quantity supplied." None of which they had/have...

In a totally unrelated matter. I'm selling a 1978 Ford F-150. Been a farm truck its whole life. I'm only asking $1.5 million.

Now you're just grasping at straws. Your original question was to " look up the definition of price gouging vs. free market capitalism." I defined both and even sourced the Director of the Undergraduate Economics Program at Harvard University to support my position.

Do you want a source for the definition of "Price Gouging"?

Price gouging is a pejorative term referring to a situation in which a seller prices goods or commodities much higher than is considered reasonable or fair.

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Price+gouging...

How about a source for the definition of "Profiteering"?

"Profiteering is a pejorative term for the act of making a profit by methods considered unethical.

Business owners may be accused of profiteering when they raise prices during an emergency (especially a war). The term is also applied to businesses that play on political corruption to obtain government contracts. Some businesses don't actually gouge the prices of their own goods; they might buy out an entire stock of something, only to resell it at an absurdly higher price."

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Profiteering+(business)

You need to it give a rest because it's game over.

Excellent comeback. Agree 100 percent. What the complainers don't understand is the word, "Essential".

Yes, I have to agree as well. If CTD was the ONLY source of ammo or the USG required us to ONLY buy from them, then I could understand the ire I see on most posts wrt CTD's business practices. Mostly, their practices are not "unethical" per se, as much as they are just DUMB. In a free market society, they are free to charge whatever they want to and to treat their customers however they want to - that's well within their rights and I do not begrudge them that. To do so would limit the freedoms of everyone by saying that a business cannot operate how they see fit.

However..... in a free market I am also free to choose who I want to buy my ammo from. And I can assure you it will NOT be CTD!

"Mostly, their practices are not "unethical" ....

It is indeed unethical and being a major Dbag to CANCEL EXISTING ORDERS that were in the fulfillment stage at the time of Sandy Hook and then RESELLING those PREVIOUSLY SOLD items at a massive increase.

CTD can suck on it.

Cancelled their existing un-shipped sales in the pipeline at the time of Sandy Hook and then resold them at jacked up prices. Scum of the Earth.

I would be buying this if it was anybody but them. I'm impressed that the vast majority of people are ignoring them. If it was anybody else, this would have been long gone.

Now, I peek at it maybe every 6-8 weeks, just to reignite my displeasure.

First they suspend sales of firearms in response to Newtown massacre and the proposed civilian disarmament legislation. Then they capitalize off of the hysteria they helped promote by price gouging.

Way to support your customer base a$$holes. CTD never again, I don't care how cheap it is.

The firearms community will be better off when they finally go out of business.

F CTD I dont wanna see anything from them on here. And im sick of all you who cant see the difference between "price gouging" and "supply/demand".

In business youll find bulls, bears and pigs. CTD smells of bacon.

It's not gouging if there's a whole market of retailers to choose from that have lower prices. CTD doesn't have a corner on the market. They chose to offer obscenely high prices and apparently enough people didn't shop around at all that they kept making money.

Same with me! This price isn't all that bad and I pondered for a moment before I saw the vendor.

Cool story for me, today at my FFL he had hornady 55g steel case for $15 per box of 50 round. If I had more cash with me I would have taken all of it.. Perfect for the cheapy 1:9 twist AR I'm finishing up.
