I couldn't care less about it's utility in general. I've got plenty of firearms that serve their intended purpose perfectly. I just want a modern mare's leg chambered in a popular rifle caliber. I'm hoping the lower alone comes down in price because I prefer to assemble my own upper.

I like the look, has a very unique factor going on, but that price is redonkulous.
One could build two traditional AR pistols for very close to that price if you have the patience to shop around and piece it together yourself.

Ok I'm clearly missing something. Why does this have a shotgun style fcg and pistol grip? Why would someone want this over, say......a REAL ar pistol?
It is a miss-interpretation of NFA laws. You can build an AR pistol without any issues, in any length configuration you like (as long as the pistol is less than 24 inches overall). You can't do that with a shotgun. Which is why the "Shockwave" is so popular, you get an SBS without doing any NFA paperwork. This "pistol" is just a talking point.
