The Model 37 Defense Gun provides formidable legal protection in a light and maneuverable package. The Model 37 receiver is machined from a solid block of steel and each gun has a crisp, rifle-like 4 to 6 lb. trigger pull. The 5-shot model allows for quick follow-up shots and comes standard with an 18-1/2" barrel. A Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad has been chosen by Ithaca for its kick-reducing properties and a matte blued finish has been added for protection against the elements.

I love pump shotguns with this look, especially the Ithaca 37. They're just so darn expensive. I always keep an eye open for used ones at pawn shops & gun stores.

Why would anyone pay this much for a pump?

Well, Ithaca shotguns are pretty much the top of the line. From what I have read, they are not mass-produced like Mossberg 500's and Remington's 870's, so more care is put into making each shotgun. I have to say that I really like the plain, classic look of Ithaca shotguns. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that the forend on these shotguns looks a little too short, more so on the model with a 20" barrel.

Has anyone used this in a tac class, 3 gun or real situation where rapid reloading is an issue.? It seems it would be harder than with a side eject, but having never shot one I don't want to assume

I don't think that the shells ejecting out of the bottom as opposed to the side would affect reloading at all.
