Nice AR, but currently Brownell's has the Ruger model 8542 on for $759.99 use code "triggered" for 10% additional discount. IMO, build quality of these two ARs is equal, but the Ruger's 2-stage trigger, CHF barrel, and much lower price make the Ruger a clear winner.

Agreed...there are some critical differences but the Ruger is a good value

I think this MI has a nitride barrel in/out with a 625 journal and Wylde chamber, mil spec phosphate 158 bcg, and handguard more appropriate for non optic accessories....in contrast to Ruger naked bore with oxide exterior, 750 journal, 556 chamber, nitride bcg, and slimmed handguard. There have also been complaints about the Ruger bcg. These specs can push shooters to one or the other. All differences for specific purposes, pros or cons depending on what you or I want. I like elements of both builds but think this MI is over-priced. Please correct my specs if they are incorrect. At the $1k mark I would personally consider a Sionics for my needs if buying a complete rifle.

Thanks for the explanation and added info. I knew nothing about the Sionics AR, but I find it very impressive at the $1000 level. Both the Ruger at the $750 level and the Sionics are configured to provide solid, desirable AR platforms that buyers can easily tailor to their taste, and needs. That's the kind of info that would have saved me bunch of time, and money since I took up ARs. Thanks, and have a great day.
