You need to find a new ffl..My ffl in AZ (Bell Rd Pawn) charges 15 bucks including the call in background check. 568+30 membership + 5 LGF =593 total from SG....with my ffl its 608 total....No tax jack!

No. I know exactly what I am talking about. If some of you were able to get this riffle for under 620.00 I am happy for you ! I was just stating the truth. I know sportmens got this riffle up to about 600.00 for most of us and after sales tax/long gun processing fee/ transfer fee/ background check and sportmens bs 30.00 club membership makes this riffle closer to 700.00. some of you have not used their free membership yet for the ammo deals posted last year ;) probably because you are all rookies which is why you don't hate sportmens guide yet. sportmens guide are with out a doubt scumbags.

*Rifle

$557.64 with free 1-month subscription to buyer's club ($30 fee for the year pays for itself with just this gun) + $4.99 rifle firearm fee + free shipping + $25 FFL transfer = $587.63 out the door.

That was a killer score on the 1 month free membership...wish I'd saw that...Anyway, I've already bought some 9mm ammo through the membership price...I'm sure The membership will save me over double the cost throughout the year...plus it was basically free with the gun discount.

Buyer's Club price $557.64 + $4.99 shipping -2.5% for using Sportsman's Guide Visa -$10 gift card given to us after the Magtech 9mm ammo cancellation = $538.95 charged to my card. No sales tax in Oregon and my LGS only charges $30 for the transfer and BGC $568.95 out the door.

That's odd, when I tried my $10 gift card code just to see if it would work on this order it says it's invalid.

Anyone else care to try? Notice it doesn't say it has been previously used, it says invalid.

"Please accept this $10 e Gift Certificate to be used on your next order. Just use code: GC code before March 31st, 2016."

Ya can't dodge sales tax if ya live in MN, apparently SG has a warehouse here. I couldn't figure out why I kept getting hit with $40 tax when I was trying to order. After some "googling" CA and MN residents pay sales tax to Sportsmans Guide. The extra $40 plus $5 shipping turned the $558 Ruger into something I could pass on for now. The $600 mark was a psychological barrier, sensical or not, under $600 would have made me buy it.

Below is the second best deal to sportsmans guide currently on the net. You probably wont have to pay tax due to your location in MN..Everyone else outthere has it for 650ish or more. GL.

Meh, FFL transfer is free at the outlet store in St. Paul so I bought one anyway for $605 OTD. And I pick it up the next day, don't mind the small premium.

Thanks, I didn't consider the outlet store. Now I have a reason to go check it out.

The $675 garbage mentioned below is completely not true. $5 to ship, $20 transfer fee at the FFL (may vary) and no tax for most. If you are a member and have their cc it's an even better deal. Where did you come up with that nonsense? This is one of the best deals available for this rifle.

My ffl only charges 15 bucks. I pay no taxes online and shipping was 5 bucks. Figure that!

I prefer the look and feel of the slim so i'm also thinking a magpul sling attachment would be better to install onto anyways.

Sportsmen guide will no doubt get the price uo to 600.00 by the time you Finnish paying then you pay the transfer fee and gun background check gets this up to about $675.00 I can get this @ the local gun shop for 620.00 no background check for me bc ccw

anyone know what the "patent pending' brl nut/delta ring is about? specific to this gun only and would a standard one fit? Also anyone see a compliant model#8502 at this price anywhere? :(

0 votes

Go to wikiarms and in the gun engine search put in ruger 8502 or ruger 556 to populate the internet dealers. Yes a standard delta ring can be used on it...but the spin off design by ruger is much easier to use. check out this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdoLE9Dgvjc... GLTY

One more off their inventory...could not resist at this price.. I already own this model and love it...Keeping this for a back up and future gift for my son when old enough. FYI The Magpul SL handgaurd looks great on this. Basically joined the buyers club for free with this deal. Plus this AR is selling for over 650 if you can even find it.

Chip
You just got the carbine length Magpul SL handguard not the M-lok correct? Also, was it easy to install? Any other tools or accessories needed?
Thx ryan

Hey LG23..Yes the carbine length Magpul SL model fits it perfectly and has an internal heat shield ( which the stock handgaurd does not). I chose it cause it gives the AR more of a mid length look and additional gripping area. (Be advised as posted already,it does cover over the QD port in the bottom of the front sight). It is easy to install...just follow the included instructions.. Below Is the link to aim surplus where I bought mine (33 bucks w/free shipping) as well as link where I bought my Magpul bipod mount and bipod for it...(If you use a bipod). Note..if you buy the bipod mount, do not install the handgaurd before you receive the mount......so you won't have to remove the handgaurd to install it later..like I did!
GLTY...if you need any more info email me at [email protected] ...as I may or may not check back here.

Does the Magpul SL hand guard cover the front QD sling mount??

Thanks!

0 votes
0 votes

Sure does..that is a drawback to it for sure. The regular MOE handgaurd does not block it but it is not as long and a bit more wide. Mag pul sells slim accessories to mount on the hand gaurd for the front sling attachment. I dont use a sling so no biggie to me. You may be able to drill an access hole for to QD if you really were determined to use that QD point. Im most likely gonna buy a single point attachment butt sling in the future anyway..GL

This really seems like a deal especially if I join their Buyers Club as it will roughly take me up to the price of it without the club. I could also use that stretch plan to pay for it over 90 days...

This or a S&W M&P Sport II?
Thanks

Big Daddy, the Ruger, plain and simple!! The Ruger is honestly a steal at this price.

1 vote

Buy the Ruger over the Sport II. This is 100% American made @ The Ruger factory in NC. The Delta ring is a custom spin off design and the barrel has a better twist design for ammo stabilization. The grip is also more ergonomic than the SW....FYI the Magpul SL handgaurd fits and looks awesome on it..Good luck.

Buy the Ruger. If not for them S&W wouldn't have moved up to Forward Assist and Dust Cover in the II model.

This is the same price I paid on 11/7/15. Don't forget your Fatwallet!

Amazing rifle @ this price!!

I wish Smith would bring back 5R in the M&P Sport. They really need to to compete with this. Oh well, Ruger will continue to kick their ass in the mid $500 AR market

Anyone owns this and core15 scout? It's only $50 cheaper

0 votes

I can only speak for the Core 15 as that is what I own; been very pleased with it overall. Also has a lifetime warranty. I did take a look at the new Ruger AR in store and it seems very solid and well put together. I would certainly consider it vs. the Core or similar rifles, and of course Ruger carries a very positive reputation.

I grabbed one for the hell of it. My buddy bought one locally for $660 OTD. Very nice for the price.
I had a $10 eGift card and bought a Magpul CTR stock at the same time. Got $31.40 already reported from Fatwallet in cash-back.
I've got right around $560 in just the gun (including FFL fees and coupons).

The front sight is F height and there is a QD socket milled into the under side/bayonet lug.

3 votes

Questions for those that own this rifle:

How is the front sling attach into that "milled gas block"? Is the gas block "F" marked, or is it at least the height of an F marked one? Does it come with a sling attachment? The photos aren't very helpful.

For the quality and features (that pistol grip is surprisingly good) this is the best AR in this price range

The only thing that bugs me is the barrel is not free floated so you'll have to account for that when using a sling or bipod
